Oh Boy, Sleep! That's Where I'm a Viking!

Revelation X, the second SubGenius bible, claimes that there are two drugs that are free, legal, easily available, and more powerful than any of the other ones. Those two drugs are "sleep" and "anti-sleep".

The idea is that both of those things give you hallucinations, change your state of consciousness, and generally do all the things that drugs do, except for occasionally getting you thrown in jail. And my point here is that I've been indulging a little too heavily in anti-sleep recently.

Wednesday night, for example, I stayed up until 3 or 4 am, and then I slept for two hours before I got up. I was, as the kids say, messed up. But here's the thing about anti-sleep. If you take too much, you have to go with the other drug, right? I'll say you do.

So I slept last night. In fact, I slept somewhat more than "last night". In fact, I slept from about 7:30 pm to 9:30 am, which is a lot of sleep by anyone's standards. I hope it is, anyway. I don't currently know anyone who sleeps more than 14 hours a day. That sort of thing can really eat into your day. I wouldn't have gone for it, except I have today off from work.

Here are my plans for today, now that I have a full load of sleep behind me:

  1. Watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

In fact, I'm gonna watch the hell out of this movie. I've heard that it's not really a good movie; that it's just a collection of cheap in-jokes designed to pander to longtime Kevin Smith fans. And to that, I say "Hey! That's me!" So I'm all over it.

  2. Make deviled eggs

A couple nights ago, I made mayonnaise. That's not code for anything, you understand. I took egg yolk, oil, vinegar, and some other stuff and whisked up my own homemade mayonnaise. And it tastes good. So I'm looking around and trying to think of things to make. And I happen to really like deviled eggs, which are conveniently mayonnaise-heavy. Yum!

  3. Um . . .

I don't know what else. I should finish a mix cd. And I'm in the middle of four or five books.

Anyway, this is going up late because I was asleep. I guess that was my main point.
